In 1998, Shenyang International School (SYIS) was established to provide a North American, college-preparatory education from a Judeo-Christian worldview to expatriate elementary, middle, and high school students in the Shenyang, Liaoning area of Northeastern China. Originally a member of the International Schools Consortium (ISC), for nearly twenty years, the school has offered safe and positive social and learning environments for children from many different countries including the United States, South Korea, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan, New Zealand, Canada, the Philippines, Netherlands, and Japan. Many students have graduated and gone on to study at some of the world’s most well-known universities. The facility offers spacious educational, technological, and athletic areas as well as comfortable common spaces for social interaction.
In 2017, the SYIS collaboration with ISC was dissolved, and SYIS partnered with Transformation Academy (TA), which operates schools in Shenyang and Shanghai, to form Shenyang Transformation International School (STIS). STIS is a licensed, WASC accredited International School with an American curriculum managed by a team of experienced professionals from America and China. TA brings a level of financial stability and local community relational support to the International School creating a high-quality school with unique opportunities to make a positive impact in the expatriate and local communities.
Today, STIS offers rich and challenging educational programs for ages 3 through 12th grade. The STIS High School offers 9 different AP classes, including Chinese Language and Culture, English Language and Composition, Calculus AB, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, and Biology as well as offering the SAT to students quarterly. Instruction is provided by professional educators and qualified professionals from around the world. The majority of the teaching staff is from the United States, but there are also instructors from New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, Uganda, Nigeria, and China.
It is the goal of STIS to create a truly global culture that recognizes and appreciates the positive impact that is made by collaborating and combining the best ideas from all countries and cultures while training students to become confident servant leaders who will impact their generation with excellence, truth, respect, uniqueness, and unity.
